Learning Outcome 2

My biggest struggle while writing essay has always been finding quotes and putting them into my essay. I always had a problem with finding a quote that would be useful in my argument or point of my essay, but it was not just filling up space. I also did not want to add a quote that was too long because then I wouldn’t be able to fully integrate it into my essay. For the first writing piece, I had to find a quote from The End of Food by Lizzie Widdicombe. I knew what I wanted the quote to be about, I just had to find it which took a little bit of time to find but eventually I found the one that I was looking for. In my essay, I added that “Doctors that Rhinehart spoke to “agreed that you could subsist on Soylent,” (Widdicombe 9) but just because you can, doesn’t mean that it is the best idea.” I felt that I was easily able to integrate this quote into my essay without it sounding forced and I was then able to explain it in a meaningful way. I have found that selecting the quote is a lot more difficult for me than actually explaining it.
